Pumpkin Purée

Total Time 30 minutes


  • 2 lbs Pumpkin, washed, quartered and seeded


  1. Using a covered pot with a rack or steamer, bring water to a boil.

  2. Add chunks of pumpkin and steam for 15 to 20 minutes or until pumpkin meat is soft.

  3. Remove from pot and cool.

  4. Remove meat from pumpkin skin, discard skin and cut pumpkin meat into chunks.

  5. Purée using a potato masher, blender or food processor, until smooth.

  6. Store in sterile glass jars for up to 5 days in the refrigerator or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Use this purée wherever canned pumpkin purée is required.
