Pumpkin Bread

America's favorite sweet bread.

Course Dessert


  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (or ¾ cup honey)
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups Pumpkin Puree
  • 2 Eggs, well beaten
  • 1 ¼ cups All-Purpose Flour (½ whole wheat and ½ unbleached)
  • 1 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ tsp Ground Cloves
  • ¼ tsp Ground Allspice
  • 1 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Using a mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add pumpkin purée and eggs and beat until well mixed.

  4. Sift dry ingredients together and fold into mixture (do not overmix). Pour into prepared loaf pan (greased, sprayed or lined with parchment).

  5. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  6. Test for doneness (use a knife or toothpick or bamboo skewer and insert – if it comes out dry, loaf is done).

  7. Cool on rack for 10 minutes and invert to remove from pan.
