Nachos with Fresh Guacamole and Pico de Gallo

This dish is a must when watching sports, especially with hockey playoffs. Homemade guacamole and pico de gallo layered with your favourite nacho chips and cheese can be made in a few minutes. Here’s how!

  • 1 bag Nachos
  • 1 cup Guacamole
  • 1 cup Pico de Gallo
  • 1 ½ cups Shredded Cheese
  • 1 cup Sour Cream

Guacamole (Yields 1 cup)

  • 1–2 Avocados, flesh removed and mashed (about 1 cup mashed)
  • ¼ cup Finely Diced Red Onion
  • ¼ cup Finely Diced Tomato
  • To taste Sea Salt and Freshly Ground Pepper
  • 2–4 tbsp Freshly Squeezed Lime

Pico de Gallo (Yields 1 to 1½ cups):

  • ½ cup White or Red Onion, chopped
  • 1 cup Ripe Tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 Jalapeno Peppers, seeded and chopped fine
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Cilantro
  • Dash Fresh Lime Juice


  1. In a bowl, mix guacamole ingredients.

  2. In another bowl mix pico de gallo. Adjust seasonings.

  3. Turn on oven broiler.

  4. Cover a baking sheet with parchment.

  5. Place ⅓ of the nachos and place dollops of ⅓ the guacamole and pico de gallo and sprinkle with ⅓ shredded cheese.

  6. Repeat two more times.

  7. Place under broiler until bubbly (about 5 to 10 minutes).

  8. Enjoy with sour cream!
